Winter Skincare Routine

It’s winter and here in Indiana, it got cold fast. I seriously think we had 1 week of truly fall weather. #globalwarminganyone

When the weather gets colder, I update my skincare routine. Part of living well includes being committed to a good skincare routine. Not only for your skin to look better, but taking care of ourselves is a form of self-respect.

First up, I want to talk about cleaner safer beauty. In my 20s and early 30s, all I cared about was how a product would “fix” my skin problems. I didn’t care how the product was formulated or the integrity behind the ingredients.

Fast forward to today, I want the products to perform of course! But I’ve learned that 1. it takes more than ummm 1 week to see improvement. 2. exercise, nutrition, and hydration play a huge role in how my skin looks 3. There are a lot of questionable ingredients in beauty products. Like… a lot. I feel good taking care of my skin with a regimen that includes cleaner products that benefit my skin, the environment, and support a larger agenda.

( I have linked all the products but to shop with me click here)

Cleanser. I need something that doesn’t strip my skin in the winter. It’s already being whipped by cold dry air and wind. The last thing I want is a cleanser that strips my skin from natural oils.

The Beautycounter Countermatch Pure Calm Cleansing Milk is perfect. I am seriously obsessed with this cleanser, especially in the mornings. I usually don’t wash my face in the am BUT when I tried this it is was perfect for feeling refreshed. It’s rich in omega 6 & 9 and vitamin E and gently removes makeup. Love it so much!

Treatment. Beautycounter Countertime Tripeptide Radience Serum. I stopped using this for about 2 weeks.. because I ran out and didn’t reorder right away. Big FAT mistake. I can tell the biggest difference in the texture of my skin and the overall glow and fullness/finelines.

If you have used retinol in the past or currently use it we all know it works. In fact, retinol is one of the only proven over the counter ingredients to actually deliver results. BUT retinol is like.. not good for your skin. It’s irritating, can cause redness, and if you are familiar with the EWG (Environmental Working Group) then you will know Retinol (aka Vitamin A) scores a big fat 9 on their hazardous scale. You want the lowest number possible. (you can read the full article here about retinol)

So basically, your skin might look younger but skin cancers are at a higher risk. (note: can you believe that vitamin A (again aka retinol) is found in sunscreen here in the US! European countries do not allow it to be in any cosmetic/beauty products. Doesn’t that completely negate the point of sunscreen?!)

The Countertime Tripeptidee Radiance Serum has Beautycounter’s new formula that acts like retinol BUT it’s plant derived. It’s called Retinatural Complex and contains Bakuchiol which has shown to deliver the same results as retinol without the harmful side effects. Total win.

Moisturizer. Well, Im in-between moisturizers right now and waiting on my order of Countertime Tetrapeptide Supreme Cream . It will pair wonderfully with the serum and be a step up in hydration.

During the fall months I loved and used the Countermatch Recovery Sleeping Cream. It was perfect! I will probably start using it again in the Spring. It has hylaluronic acid, plum oil, and Tara Gum all to help revitalize the skin while you sleep. Good stuff!

Eye Cream. Beautycounter Countermatch Recovery Eye Cream. This is a great hydrating eye cream. I think next time I will bump up to the Countertime Eye Cream (because I am starting to see more fine lines #newmom status) but this one goes on great under concealer and does the job well. Plus, mine lasted 4 months! Which is great.
